The Hemp Clone Advantage

Many of you have had questions about the benefits of planting hemp clones as opposed to seed or seedlings. We’ve outlined some of the key reasons people choose clones below. But first let’s start off with defining just exactly what we mean when we say “hemp clone.” Hemp clones are the result of asexual propagation through cuttings. A rooted cutting results in offspring with characteristics similar to the parent plant. This ensures favorable traits are passed down and produces consistent phenotypes.

Hemp Clone Benefits

  • 100% FEMALE : Clones are female plants, cut from proven mother plants. Planting female plants saves you the time of culling males within your field, as male plants will pollinate a crop.

  • SINGLE PHENOTYPE: Clones provide plants with uniform and consistent growth as opposed to varying phenotypes which can result when planting seed.

  • FIELD READY: We do the up-front work of germinating seeds, sexing the plants and selecting the strongest mothers. We root the hemp cuttings until they are strong and field ready.

The photograph on this page features an average size, rooted hemp clone. Almanac Planting Co uses a soilless growing media that can be directly transplanted into the field. Our clones come in 72 count plug trays.

All clones are cut to order and require a minimum of 30 days before pick-up. Due to this, we strongly encourage pre-ordering at least two months in advance of your desired planting date. We will be fulfilling orders starting the week of May 25th through June and into July as requested.

If you do decide clones are the best fit for your farm we would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

Thank you for your time. All the love. All the power.
